20% Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credit Consulting & National Register Nomination (San Diego, CA)
Urbana is the historic preservation consultant for the Imig Manor / Lafayette Hotel Historic Rehabilitation Project. The historic hotel property comprises one city block and includes six separate buildings and an Olympic sized historic swimming pool. Urbana’s role is to prepare the Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 Historic Preservation Certification Applications that are approved and reviewed by the California State Office of Historic Preservation (SHPO) and the National Park Service (NPS), and to prepare the property’s National Register of Historic Places nomination forms.
To-date Urbana has surveyed, documented and recorded the entire hotel complex and evaluated the property for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places, prepared a Part 1 (Evaluation of Significance) Historic Preservation Certification Application (HPCA) that received approval and concurrence from the California State Office of Historic Preservation (SHPO) and the National Park Service (NPS), and a Part 2 (Description of Rehabilitation) HPCA that accounted for all historic fabric and character-defining features and specified construction tasks and design improvements that are in-keeping with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, that received similar concurrence from SHPO and NPS. Urbana is currently providing construction monitoring to ensure that all proposed historic rehabilitation tasks are completed according to SHPO and NPS approvals, and is authoring the property’s nomination for listing to the National Register of Historic Places.
